Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin

Creative Artist, Musician, Entrepreneur, Ovarian Cancer Research Advocate

Consuelo is dedicated to the fight against ovarian cancer and has designated her charity as the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, www.ocrf.org.

Discovered at the age of 15, Consuelo traveled to Italy to study music at La Studio Di Brittanica, financing her education by playing and singing in the clubs of Florence. Soon thereafter, she found herself touring Germany, where she partnered with Christian Seidal to shoot her first music video. When she was offered a job performing with Joe Cocker at the legendary Royal Albert Hall, Consuelo immediately headed to London. As a result of her performance, Consuelo signed her first record deal and completed her self-titled EP. Upon its completion, Consuelo returned to Los Angeles, where one of her songs found its way into the hands of David Foster and the producers of Pop Stars, a realty show about the making of an all-girl group on the WB network. The song was recorded by Eden's Crush, and Consuelo became the youngest songwriter on that show. Consuelo was flown to New York and performed with Vanessa Carlton, Mya and Tweet on Mtv2. She recently finished a record with her band Costin.

Consuelo, a direct descendant of Cornelius Vanderbilt, is dedicated to the fight against ovarian cancer and has designated her charity as the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, www.ocrf.org. The mission of the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund is to fund research to find a method of early detection and ultimately a cure for ovarian cancer. OCRF helps patients and their loved ones understand the disease and its treatment, and provides outreach programs to raise public awareness.

A resident of Los Angeles, Consuelo continues to perform and has currently signed a production deal with Peter Amato and Jess Sutcliffe. Amato has produced music from Ricky Martin and LeAnn Rimes, and was the first producer to be signed to Desmond Child’s label. Sutcliffe is a 14-time Grammy nominated mixer-engineer who just finished Prince’s album. Consuelo’s song “Numb” was recently featured on the hit mini-series “Beach Girls,” starring Julia Ormond and Rob Lowe.

Consuelo has also recently launched a company called Soho Muse, a social network/community fostering the work of creative artists. Providing a thirst for knowledge and creativity, SohoMuse aims to educate, inspire and aid collaboration by bringing people and cultures together online - opening the doors to a new way of thinking - and living. SohoMuse shall integrate cutting-edge technologies, pioneering interactive design with unique 3D graphics to provide an inspiring one-of-kind twenty-four hour online home and cultural learning destination.
